Set in the Star Trek universe prior to the events of the original series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has faced a unique challenge: It has featured a number of characters who would go on to become Star Trek legends. The Spock and Uhura characters are regulars on the show, while James T. Kirk and Scotty have made a number of guest appearances during the show’s first two seasons. Of course, the challenges faced by the show’s writers and producers in building these characters’ backstories are shared by the actors, each of whom is following in some very famous footsteps.
Ethan Peck was originally hired to play Spock on another series, Star Trek: Discovery, and was then brought back as a regular on Strange New Worlds. Speaking at Terrificon’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds panel, Peck talked about the process he went through in trying to do justice to one of science fiction’s truly iconic roles.
