Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Venezuela from Cuba as part of his tour of the region. In Venezuela he met with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Vice-President Delcy Rodriguez and his counterpart Yvan Gil where they discussed the strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries. After Venezuela, Lavrov will end his tour in Brazil where he will participate in the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
The Supreme Court of London began what is considered "the last legal recourse" of Julian Assange to appeal his extradition to the United States. Assange has been in prison for 1176 days for declassifying hundreds of Pentagon documents on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
