Allie and Nick welcome guest host Colleen to discuss Buffy season 2, episode 6, “Halloween.”

It's Halloween, which - surprisingly - means it’s the quietest night of the year for the undead. The Scoobies would be relaxing, but they’re bullied by Principal Snyder into babysitting the kids of Sunnydale while they trick or treat. The gang buys their costumes at a new place run by a mysterious Englishman called Ethan Rayne. Xander saves money on a soldier's costume, Buffy chooses a noblewoman's costume to impress Angel, while Willow chooses a SUPER scary costume - a ghost. Buffy coaxes her into a more revealing outfit, but she chickens out and wears the ghost sheet over it. Ethan, revealing himself as a worshipper of chaos, casts a spell to turn people into their costumes. Buffy is now ditsy and powerless, Xander is a real soldier, Willow is incorporeal, and everyone else - except Cordelia - is a monster. Spike and his goons take advantage of the chaos. Angel joins the Scoobies, thank goodness. Giles, who we learn has a history with Ethan, brutally beats the spell reversal out of him. This brings everyone back to normal, just in time.
