People might be offended or caught off guard when asked the question, “Where did you attend high school?”
I have a theory that this question actually means, “I like you a lot. What do you have in common? Do we have any mutual friends?” It’s a question intended to be friendly. That person wants to find common ground.

If you didn’t go to a premier high school in St. Louis, whatever that means to you, you might explain you went to a larger sized school or mention what you enjoyed most about it. Ask it back to them! Build a friendship. If you’re from out of state, feel free to chuckle and explain you didn’t go to a local school. Rest assured someone is only curious in learning more about you.
