Manage episode 314904121 series 3291650
Kathryn McEwen, Global Lead of Working with Resilience and Founder of the R@W Team App joins Karen Griffin and Lindsay Harding to explore defining, building and sustaining resilience in organisations.
Some takeaways…
· We align our definition of resilience with the problems workplaces are looking to solve when they seek it out. Generally it’s about pressure, change, uncertainty and future viability - meaning that resilience at work is managing challenge, adapting and proactively planning.
· While keeping healthy and well is important, the core building blocks are alignment with values and purpose as without this there is no solid base to build on.
· Move beyond the usual focus on individuals to look at what teams need to do together, in their particular working environment, to manage, adapt and thrive.
· As a leader you have to invest in your resilience but recognise that as a ‘climate engineer’ how you demonstrate this matters.
· Invest in resilience in the good times, not just when the wheels fall off and you will embed routines that hold you in good stead
· Align all of your efforts in investment in people, teams, leaders plus processes and systems to create sustainable culture change. You need a systemic approach for success.
· Keep it simple. Small shifts in the right direction matter. On teams it’s about having the conversations that matter on an on-going basis.
