This episode of Space Cafè Radio is part of our Karman mini-series, produced in collaboration with the Karman Project. The Karman Project every year selects 15 fellows from around the world to foster trust, cooperation, and dialogue between global leaders in space.
In this episode Editor in Chief Emma Gatti interviewed Jacob Malthouse, the executive director of the Lunar Foundation and her co-fellow at the Karman Fellowship for 2023.
In this intense talk, Jacob emphasizes the importance of collaboration, open standards, and informal dialogue to ensure a peaceful future on the Moon. As the plans to develop a permanent lunar base develops, humanity must ask itself how we will build the legal, scientific and commercial framework for our new lunar civilization. Will we be able to build on peace and cooperation, rather than rivalry? Will the next generation be proud of us? Enjoy the listening!
Here are the chapters:
1:27 Interview with Jacob Malthouse: Personal Background and Career

2:57 Challenges in the Space Sector and Lunar Governance

3:58 Modern Lunar Governance and the Moon Treaty
