Soccer Talk with Tyler Green and Simon Fudge is back for the August 14th edition - presented by Metrotown Orthopedic & Sports Physiotherapy, as they broadcast from the Barber and Co. studios.

On this episode, Tyler and Simon reflect on another defeat for Whitecaps FC - a costly 2-1 home loss to the San Jose Earthquakes. With their playoff hopes still hanging in the balance, do the Blue and White have what it takes to turn things around or does Friday’s defeat leave them with a mountain too big to climb at this stage of the season?

The loss to San Jose was the latest in a season of setbacks and disappointments for Whitecaps FC. Tyler and Simon give their thoughts on what has gone wrong and if anything has actually gone right for Vancouver in 2016. We also hear the comments of Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson following Friday’s defeat to the Earthquakes at BC Place.

Like London 2012, the Canadian women’s national team are one win away from the women’s soccer final at the Rio Olympics. On Tuesday, they face a re-match versus a tough German side that they beat in the group stage. Does John Herdman’s squad have what it takes to beat the European champions for a second time in the competition and play for gold?

The guys also look ahead to the Olympic men’s soccer semifinals on Wednesday and look back at the opening weekend of the new English Premier League season, while ‘Simon Says’ assesses one of FIFA’s latest experiments that is being tested at Rio 2016.

All that and more on the August 14th version of Soccer Talk!
