It has been a rollercoaster of emotions in 48 hours for fans of the Portland Timbers and Thorns.

The Timbers got trounced in Houston; the Thorns pulled out a signature, 2-1 win over North Carolina despite being down a player for nearly the entire match; and coach Giovanni Savarese and the Timbers parted ways.

On this week’s episode of Soccer Made in Portland, co-hosts Ryan Clarke and Chris Rifer break down the Savarese firing and what it means for the Timbers’ future. Later, they revel in the Thorns’ resilience (and greatness) as the reigning NWSL champs enter the home stretch.

And for the final half hour of the show, a special guest: Thorns and Canada women’s national team forward Janine Beckie jumps on the pod to discuss her recovery from a torn ACL, analyze the 2023 FIFA World Cup, articulate Canada players’ fight for equity, and more.
