God's purpose is to take people who hate each other and combine them as one in the Body of Christ.--Think about why the Greeks and Jews hated each other. Go back to the events surrounding Hanukkah, when the Greeks offered a pig to Zeus inside God's holy Temple.--God is building both the Temple of the New Covenant and the Body of Christ. Ephesians 4-1-16 speaks about that maturity and informs us that the role of the pastor-teacher is to equip -ordinary believers- to do the work of the ministry.--1 Corinthians 12-12-14 speaks of the unity of all believers in the one Body of Christ.--1 Corinthians 12-15-18 warns us against feeling we are useless and inferior because we think our gifts are unimportant.--1 Corinthians 12-19-24 warns us against looking down on other believers because we think their gifts are inferior to ours.--1 Corinthians 12-25-27 affirms our unity and need for entering into the joys and sorrows of others.--1 Corinthians 12-28-31 lays out the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how they are to be used to serve one another.--Why don't you ask God to show you his purpose for your life-- What are the gifts you've given me----We need each other.
