In this episode of True Home Confessions, our anonymous caller shares that his wife has really gotten into candles, and heavily scented stuff, even starting a new business selling essential oils to their friends. The problem? Our caller is chemically sensitive, and all of these fragrances are causing him eye-watering asthma attacks and headaches. When he confronted his wife, she said she ‘has to test them to sell them’, and teased him - saying he’s being overly sensitive. Also - she didn’t shut off the diffusers. What’s a caller to do?

In each episode, we bring on a ‘Friend of the Show’ – to offer our caller some friendly advice. Comedian, writer and actor Carl Foreman Jr. joins us in the studio to talk through this scented marital drama: he’s got serious thoughts about multi-level marketing brands, houses that smell good (or don’t) and how to know if our caller’s wife is trying to quietly kill him.

Next: we bring on Building Biologist and Air Quality expert, Ryan Blaser, from Test My Home. We determine if our caller should be taking Carl’s friendly advice and hear the six pillars that Ryan says make up a Healthy Home. Ryan and host Laurie March dive deep into the allure of holistic living, a troubling rise in fragrance sensitivities, and the emotional connection between scent and memory. Our confessor is left with some good advice on how to solve his toxic problem, and we hear Ryan’s take on the truth about essential oils and your lungs.
