Black Love in Letters: Part 2, Letter 1, Paul read by TallSoftBoi

An Audio Series of Transcribed Words of Devotion between Black Men and the Black Women they Loved during Civil War and Beyond

Narrated by Descendants of the African Diaspora. Letters used were available in the public domain. My Black History Month gift to you, this is only the beginning. Enjoy.

.............................................................

The following are letters of Paul Laurence Dunbar, one of, if not the first African American writer to reach international fame for his poems and other literary works, and Alice Ruth Moore, a highly influential poet, essays, activist, and more. Both were the children of formerly enslaved persons. The letters read were written shortly after their engagement.

.............................................................

“Alice, My Darling: Someday, when I can hold you in my arms and punctuate every sentence with a kiss and an embrace I may be able to tell you how happy your letter has made me..”

“Dearest heart of mine: I am just truly, longing for you today. I can not but think of this hour a week ago when I was with you. Dear how I hate to be separated from you.”

Editing: Both Narrators and u/AsterionAudio

Art: u/TamedSiren and ReadByRanae
