Welcome to The Daily Quote – a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I’m your host, Andrew McGivern, and today is October 25th.

Now, if you tuned in yesterday, we celebrated World Food Day, and I jokingly said there should be an “eat-anything-you-want” day.

Well, clearly the universe was eavesdropping, because today is National Greasy Foods Day! It’s almost like someone out there is giving us permission to indulge.

I mean, how often does the calendar line up this perfectly? Yesterday we were all about honoring food and focusing on healthy eating, and now we’re honoring the kind of food that’s, well, best enjoyed in moderation!

Speaking of which, today’s quote comes from none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who once said:

"Don’t cheat yourself – treat yourself!"

Now, I’m not saying The Rock was talking about deep-fried anything when he said this, but the message fits pretty well with today’s theme. We work hard, we stick to our routines, and sometimes we even skip that tempting side of fries. But every now and then, you’ve got to remind yourself that life is also about balance—and that balance includes a cheat day or two.

Here’s the thing: treating yourself isn’t just about indulging in food, it’s about rewarding yourself for the effort you put in every day. You can’t be all work and no play, just like you can’t be all salad and no fries. Today’s about remembering that every so often, letting yourself enjoy life’s guilty pleasures is just as important as sticking to the grind. It’s a chance to savor those moments where we say, “You know what? I deserve this.”

So go ahead, enjoy a greasy burger, or grab that slice of pizza you’ve been thinking about all week. After all, life’s too short to be too good all the time.
