“Roller coaster, favourite ride. Let me kiss you one last time.” In Episode 29, Kiara and Kerri will not shut up about the joyous romp that is blink-182’s fourth album, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001). In this episode, we discuss both the wild and woeful tracks that combine to make the perfect roller coaster ride of a record, to which we pay tribute by tossing back a few Roller Coaster cocktails. Kiara and Kerri rave over the band’s infectiously fun style – from their unforgettable music videos accompanying catchy riffs to their firm commitment to a good pun – but we also commend the band on their genuine ability to speak to heavy topics like divorce, political discontent, and heartbreak. And over the course of this virtual Zoom session, we learn of Kerri’s beef with Romeo & Juliet, get a taste of Kiara’s Earth Kitt impression, carefully tread around the more *explicit* hidden tracks, and somehow manage to tie in the sociological theories of Karl Mannheim (seriously).
