This week Alysia + Sarah sit down to talk about Black Maternal Health Week and how we can work to eliminate the inequity of Black maternal mortality. Women of color are 3-4x more likely to die due to pregnancy/birth-related causes than white women. This is a problem that we need to address. Space needs to be given to black maternal health, not just one week a year, but every day until we no longer see the staggering disparities women of color consistently face - especially when it comes to their maternal health.

If you find yourself struggling, whether it be through pregnancy, feelings of guilt or shame surrounding birth, difficulties breastfeeding, parenting during the pandemic, etc. - Please know you are not alone. Reach out to someone you trust with these feelings - or reach out to us directly. You are doing the hard work and we see you.

The contents of our show have many references to alcohol and drinking. We want to acknowledge our friends in recovery and let them know we love and support them. If you, or someone you know, is experiencing substance abuse disorder please call 1-800-662-HELP or visit https://www.samhsa.gov/
