Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. Dane McCusker is a director in Sydney, whose debut feature The Big Dog is about to start its theatrical release after sold-out sessions at Sydney Film Festival.
The Big Dog is a dramedy about a married stockbroker with a penchant for the esoteric fetish "findom" - financial domination. When his secret dominatrix cleans out all of his bank accounts, he has one day to save his life from ruin.
It's a hilarious, heart-wrenching and nuanced interrogation of class, gender and toxic masculinity. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
