James Wise from Balderton – Productivity, Innovation and Government
Manage episode 265366353 series 2709483
My guest today is James Wise, partner at Balderton, one of Europe's most prolific venture capital firms. James joined Balderton in 2013, where he focuses on health, productivity and security. Since then has led investments in companies like Sophia Genetics, Detectify and Kaia Health.
James is also a trustee at Dot.Everyone, a charity that advocates for responsible approaches to using new technologies, and Demos, Britain's leading independent, cross-party think tank. In 2011 he served as a Specialist Adviser to Parliament.
In today's conversation we cover:
- whether the rate of productivity is slowing down or not
- why startups should tackle bigger problem (and how)
- why power is shifting from cities to regions
- and much more.
I found this conversation fascinating so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
