This year most of the Gospel lessons are in the Gospel according to Saint Mark. These readings talk about Jesus’ teachings, His miracles, and His action-packed ministry. But each of the readings also has a “takeaway” from Jesus Himself! We’re focusing on these “red-letter” verses this year.

The “red letter verse” in today’s Gospel lesson is from Mark chapter 10 - it’s verse 27, where Jesus said, “With God All Things Are Possible.” This verse also happens to be the official Motto of the State of Ohio. The State of Ohio website says that “Its use as a state motto is not intended to endorse a specific deity, but instead stands as a generic expression of optimism” - but we know better - and we’ll hear why in today’s sermon.
