Rich Embury is back again with another flashback to the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s rock & metal scene! This week we hear music from the lesser-known, more obscure, but awesome bands of the glam metal/hair metal era (80s/early 90s). Bands that didn’t get the juice of platinum sellers like Poison, Twisted Sister, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, and others, definitely should have been more successful (in Rich’s opinion). But, due to timing (released too close to the grunge era which killed Glam Metal at the time), circumstances (like band strife), or poor management and lack of label support. These bands were relegated to being opening acts, and having less album sales than their bigger peers, despite having good or better music than some of the big guns of the day. These are a small sampling of the bands Rich thinks deserve more props, and to remind everyone how good these rare hair gems were! Note: “Hair Metal” or “Glam Metal” were more of a term or generalised label for the era, than a style of music. The styles were varied, but many bands were lumped under the same genre name. Rock History, and obscure fun from The Four Horsemen / Brighton Rock / Michael Monroe / Rough Cutt / Icon / Deadline / Lillian Axe / TKO / War Babies / Slik Toxik / Saints & Sinners / Tuff!

This edition of Rich Embury’s Power Hour aired initially LIVE on The Blitz 100.1 FM, Metal Crash Radio, Bulldogs Radio, Tripl3 Troubl3 Radio, Veckans Band Metal Radio, Rock On The Rise Radio, MetalRadioGR, KRFK Radio, Future FM Live, NAR-Metal, NAR-Alf, Radio Infernale, Bloodstream Radio, Rock Nation, RockStar Radio, Earth Rock Radio, Whatever 68 Radio, KDUB Radio, CIA-Rock Radio, Rogue Rock Radio, Ulster Radio, Rock Steady 94, Spin N Chat Radio, Heavy Metal Radio (UK), Vibe Tunes Radio, LaFamilia-Radio, Decades Mix Radio, Marshide Radio, and Insane Realm Radio, Wednesday, June 26th, 2024.
