In seven compelling episodes, this podcast covers the most pressing and misunderstood aspects of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, including how security vetting actually works, the economic impact of refugees, the history of U.S. immigration and ongoing pattern of fear and vilification of newcomers, faith perspectives, veteran perspectives, and the current status and future of the global migration crisis that has rivaled the historical migrant flows of WWII and continues to rise today. More importantly, this podcast introduces you to refugees who have resettled in Texas, and who share their harrowing stories of escape from death. We hope you will allow us to take you deep into refugee resettlement and the lives of refugees so you can experience the best of humanity and become a part of something like nothing else you've ever experienced - and have probably never imagined. Support for this podcast is provided by the Embrey Human Rights Program at Southern Methodist University. This podcast is also a production of Human Rights Media LLC in Dallas, TX. For media inquiries, please contact tjelke@smu.edu. New episodes were released monthly from October 2017 through May 2018. Many thanks to the dedicated staff who worked tirelessly to help produce this series and make it possible. And for each refugee and expert guest, thank you for your honesty and vulnerability to bring your stories and reliable data to the public.
