I would like to believe that being a Black Female Entrepreneur is impactful and encourages other women to do the same! I was granted the opportunity to speak with 3 powerful women doing their thing in the community! Until recently black women have largely been left out of the narrative of dream chasing. Thankfully, over the past decade, things have shifted. From 2007 to 2018, the number of black women-owned businesses increased by 164%, more than 3x the rate of women-owned businesses. As often heralded, today black women are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs in the US. Unfortunately, wealth gaps and lack of funding available for minorities continue to contribute to the inability of so many black folks to audaciously dream. On average, White Americans have seven times the wealth of Black Americans. Since 2009, black female founders have received only .0006% of the $424.7 billion in tech venture capital funding. And yet, when I look around, even with the chips stacked against us, black women are thriving like never before. Taking a page from the black power movement that swept the country in the 60s, today black dream chasers have stopped depending solely on the validation or patronage of the majority. Instead, black people have found ways to inspire, financially support and provide access and education to one another. The fact is: black women are still playing a rather wearisome game of catch-up in the entrepreneurial space. Let’s she what these ladies have to say about it! #blackgirlmagic #therealtalkpodcast --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the6thman/message
