In this Episode Sarah de Nordwall discusses with Charlotte Xerri, singer and singing teacher, the journey to the spiritual beauty of singing. Charlotte shares the joy of singing the role of Irene in Handel's Theodora and explores how different it is to experience Church music in a Church setting sung by people of faith and who also desire to bring forth all the singers in the choir and not just 'build a career'. This is the taste of the Bard School that will give you a way into the delights of oratorio if you are new to the genre. You are encouraged to go and listen to Handel's favourite Chorus in his favourite Oratorio... and it isn't the one you're thinking of!

THE BARDCAST airs live and can be listened to on www.RadioMariaEngland.uk or digital radio in London, Bristol, South Birmingham and Cambridge at 3:15pm after the Divine Mercy Chaplet on Sundays and 8pm on Fridays. Each week Sarah de Nordwall reflects on poems that have been sent in, shares a poem of her own, leaves us with a theme and a writing prompt and sends us off to write something ourselves.
