28 - Titus Andronicus - The Monitor: The Enemy is Everywhere (But Mostly in Somerville, MA...)
Manage episode 415426490 series 3517203
The American Civil War never ended! It has raged on in one form or another from Fort Sumter to Appomattox Court House all the way through this, the 28th Episode of Rabbit Fighters, where this week we examine the much beloved punk rock anomaly that is The Monitor, the 2010 Civil War “concept” album by New Jersey’s finest, Titus Andronicus. Joshua is a huge fan (+@ forever!) and Brian and Greg are green(ish) recruits who have just been conscripted and sent down south to fight Johnny Reb, only to find that the Enemy. Is. EVERYWHERE.
The Monitor is 65 minutes of dense, loud and bold rock and roll that drapes the Civil War around the shoulders of hard breakups, hard drinking, hard cities, hard mental states, hard substances and hard anthems.
So grab your musket, tune up your bagpipes and let’s rally round the flag (boys and girls!) as we shout the battle cry of freedom this week on Rabbit Fighters.
