Iondrive Limited (ASX: ION) CEO Dr Ebbe Dommisse joins Proactive’s Tylah Tully to discuss the company’s completed pre-feasibility study (PFS) for its Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES) battery recycling technology, which demonstrated cost competitiveness and environmental sustainability. The PFS assessed the feasibility of a 10,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) recycling plant capable of processing around 160,000 end-of-life lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries annually. A benchmarking study by PEM RWTH Aachen University found the DES process to be 36% lower in capital expenditure and highly competitive in operating costs compared to a conventional hydrometallurgical recycling plant. The DES process, developed with the University of Adelaide, uses biodegradable solvents in a closed-loop system to recover lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese from black mass with minimal environmental impact. The study’s economic modelling showed Iondrive’s DES technology as more profitable than competing methods. High mineral recovery rates were confirmed during larger-scale trials, with simple pre-treatment steps further enhancing recoveries. Iondrive’s next steps include optimising the DES process with an integrated pilot plant slated for 2025-2027 and establishing EU partnerships to support the European recycling market’s regulatory demands. The company aims to attract further investment as it progresses towards commercialisation. #ProactiveInvestors #Iondrive #ASX #BatteryRecycling, #DESRecycling, #SustainableTech, #LithiumIonBatteries, #MineralRecovery, #GreenEnergy, #CostCompetitive, #RecyclingInnovation, #ElectricVehicles, #LithiumValley, #RenewableMaterials, #CleanTech, #CircularEconomy, #EuropeBatteryRecycling, #BatteryMaterials, #CriticalMinerals, #UniversityOfAdelaide, #PilotPlant, #EnvironmentalSustainability
