We all have standards or values by which we live. We all have a desire that others see us as being real, or genuine or authentic. No one really likes a hypocrite. Jesus challenged his listeners to have a standard that was so high that it was greater than that of the Pharisees and teachers of the law. How can this be? How can one be better than perceived perfection?
