Sermon: Zechariah's Song Luke 1:67-80

The theme is not hard to find. Verse 68 and verse 78.
It is the word “come.” It means “to visit personally.”
That could only mean one thing: The Messiah is on the way!
The long wait is over! God has visited His people!

Five specific facts about the Divine Visitation.
1. Christ’s coming provides salvation. A. Redemption: Verse 68 B. Salvation: Verse 69 C. Rescue: Verses 71 & 74 D. Forgiveness: Verse 77
2. Christ’s coming fulfills prophecy Three things about the promise of the Messiah: A. It was promised by the prophets. Verse 70 B. It was cherished by the fathers. Verse 72 C. It was guaranteed by the oath to Abraham. Verse 72-73
3. Christ’s coming gives us purpose. Verses 74-75
4. Christ’s coming will be prepared by John. Verses 76-77 Three specific predictions about John’s future:
1. You will be a prophet of God.
2. You will prepare the way of the Lord.
3. You will proclaim the knowledge of salvation by preaching the forgiveness of sins.
5. Christ’s coming brings blessings. Three great blessings that the coming of Christ brings
1. It is Light to those who are in darkness. Verse 78
2. It is Pardon to those condemned to death. Verse 79
3. It is Guidance to those who have lost their way. This is the difference that Jesus Christ makes.
A. He has come to save His people
B. He has come to release them from their fears
C. He has come to forgive their sins
D. He has come to guide them on the path of peace

Some Crucial Questions:
1. Do you believe it really happened?
2. Do you believe He came with you in mind?
3. Have you ever entered into the things Zechariah talked about?
