Introduced in 2003, Ric Laning is the half-brother of mob boss Sonny Corinthos. He initially arrives in Port Charles with a hidden agenda, harboring deep resentment toward Sonny, whom he blames for the hardships in his life, including their mother's abandonment. Ric's manipulative and often dangerous behavior stems from his desire for revenge, leading him to commit numerous morally questionable acts, such as kidnapping, blackmail, and framing others for crimes. Despite his darker side, Ric also struggles with his desire to be loved and accepted, especially in his relationships with women and his daughter, Molly Lansing. In 2024, Ric returns to Port Charles to support Molly through the devastating loss of her baby. While his initial intent was to help his daughter through this difficult time, it appears Ric may be staying in town a bit longer, leaving fans wondering whether he has truly changed or if old habits will resurface.
