Over the Australian summer break, I’m bringing you five of your favourite episodes from the past 12 months. This time it’s a solo coaching episode with me - all about you. See, I get that writing about yourself is hard. It can feel vulnerable, confronting, or even self-indulgent. But the good news is, it doesn’t have to. In this episode, I share some strategies to help you get out of your own way - and start to write from a place that feels authentic and free flowing.

I recorded this episode way back in February 2022. Listening back, here are a few things that really stand out:

  • To establish genuine know, like and trust with your audience, you need to share about yourself - your values/way you work are a great place to start - they infuse all the content I create, whether that’s for my website, social media or podcast.
  • You don’t have to - and probably shouldn’t - share everything about yourself. What you’re comfortable sharing will change over time.
  • Often the best words we can use to talk about ourselves - are, in fact, not our words - but the words of our clients or customers. It’s then a matter of infusing this ‘Voice of Customer’ language into your copywriting

With that in mind, here’s a little activity to consider as you listen to this episode - What social proof do you already have that you can comb through and pull out key phrases/themes from? Have you collected Google reviews or shared a feedback form? If you have this kind of data already, it’s worth pulling it into a document or spreadsheet so you can look at it all together. If you don’t yet have any of this ‘voice of customer’ data and you need to gather some feedback or testimonials - it’s better late than never. Once you’ve finished this mini episode, I encourage you listen to my chat with Kirsty Fanton - which is episode 25 - where we dig into how to ask for this feedback & the best way to frame your questions so you get useful responses.

I hope you enjoy this episode - and I’ll be back in your ears again soon.
