The second largest city Kharkiv has been suffering unimaginable Russian attacks on critical infrastructure, residential areas, power supplies, and medical facilities. Russia has switched tactics to try to destroy the city’s power supply and terrorize its 1.3 million residents, with people experiencing unscheduled power cuts for hours at a time. For this special segment, we were joined by five female doctors of Kharkiv who shared their stories of resilience and determination. Together with our co-hosts Alan and Tracey, and our guest Leda, we were talking about their daily work, what keeps them motivated, international support, what is needed to keep going, how solar power generators are helping them and why they chose to stay in Kharkiv, despite all the tragedies, daily bombardmends and risks.

We had the privilege of hosting five remarkable female doctors from Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine. Despite facing unimaginable challenges amidst the ongoing Russian attacks on critical infrastructure, residential areas, and medical facilities, these resilient women shared their stories of courage, determination, and unwavering commitment to their fellow Ukrainians.

Throughout the interview, the women provided insights into their daily work amidst the chaos and tragedies of war. They described the experiences of saving lives and welcoming new lives amid bombardments and power outages. Despite the constant threat to their own safety, their dedication remains unwavering.

One topic of the conversation was the importance of international support in sustaining their efforts. The doctors expressed gratitude for the assistance they have received from the global community, emphasizing the crucial role it plays in providing essential supplies and medical aid.

Amidst the challenges, the doctors spoke passionately about what keeps them motivated. Their sense of duty to their patients, their community and the right to freedom and sovereignty serves as a powerful driving force, inspiring them to persevere in the face of war.

Despite the immense hardships they face, the doctors highlighted the invaluable role that solar power generators play in sustaining their operations. These generators provide a lifeline during power outages, ensuring that critical medical equipment remains functional and lives can be saved. With our current Defiance & Resilience campaign, we are raising funds for Solar Power Generators and Power Units for medical facilities in Kharkiv.

Perhaps most poignant were the reflections on why they choose to stay in Kharkiv, despite the dangers that surround them. For these brave women, their decision to remain stems from a deep-rooted sense of loyalty to their city and people and a steadfast determination to stand resilient in the face of aggression.

As we concluded the interview, it became abundantly clear that the courage and resilience of these female doctors exemplify the spirit of Kharkiv, and Ukraine itself. Their unwavering commitment to saving lives and serving their community serves as a beacon of hope in the midst of darkness. We feel very honored to have welcomed these remarkable, brave women.
