Spiritual Lineage vs. Physical Lineage:
The people claimed to be children of Abraham (John 8:39) and therefore assumed they were in right standing with God. However, Jesus clarified that true children of Abraham would do the works of Abraham—faith and obedience to God (John 8:39-40).
