The Red Sox closed out their road trip with a 2-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. Sox went 2-5 on their road trip against the Yankees and Rays. Boston had an opportunity to return home 3.0 games behind both the Twins and Tigers for the 3rd AL Wild Card spot but are 4.0 back with 9 to go. The Red Sox were held to 1 hit and were also shutout for the 7th time this season.

Bats Remain Silent: The Red Sox managed only 1 hit (and 1 base runner) over the 1st 7 Innings against Rays starting pitcher, Zack Littell and did not have a base runner over the final 2 innings against 2 Tampa Bay Relievers. Nick Sogard reached with a 2-out Single in the 3rd Inning and was left stranded. Littell had 6 1-2-3 Innings and left the game with a 1-0 lead after 7 Innings. Littell walked no one, struck out 7 and picked up his 8th win.

Bello's Night On The Hill: Brayan Bello gave up back-to-back singles in the 3rd Inning and Brandon Lowe knocked in the game's 1st run with a sacrifice fly. Bello got the 2nd out of the 6th Inning with a strikeout and was removed with 101 pitches. Bello has allowed 2 Earned Runs or less in 7 of his last outing. A Look Ahead: The Red Sox return home and open up a 3-Game Series with the Minnesota Twins Friday night at Fenway Park. Twins won 2 of 3 from the Red Sox at Target Field back in early May. The Twins lost to the Guardians on Thursday and are currently tied for the 3rd AL Wild Card with the Detroit Tigers. Twins are 26-31 since the All-Star Break and are 10-20 over their last 30 Games.
