Mets take series opener to go up 6-5 in the season series with two games remaining in 2024.

Jeff McNeil hit a two-run home run, Brandon Nimmo hit a three-run shot, and Francisco Lindor added an RBI triple- all in a six-run fourth inning that chased Miami starter Roddery Munoz and blew the game open. Nimmo's homer broke an 0-17 slump. It was his first home run since July 10th.

Jake Burger homered for the fourth time in five games for the Marlins. He has 24 on the season, 15 of which have come in July and August. Derek Hill added an RBI double for the Marlins, 45-77.

Nimmo, McNeil and JD Martinez each had two hits for the Mets, 63-59.

Munoz gave up four earned runs- five total- on five hits in just 3 1/3 innings of work. Mets starter Sean Manaea pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits to pick up the win.

The Marlins are 5-6 against the Mets this season, with just the two games left in this series.

The Marlins and Mets play the second of three games tomorrow in New York. Max Meyer (2-5, 5.20 ERA) will face Luis Severino. (7-6, 4.17)

First pitch is set for 4:10pm ET.
