Why Not Today? With Leslie Kane
Manage episode 340655196 series 3342754
Do you have a dream or desire to do something new? Something that keeps tugging at you, that keeps calling your name, that stirs your excitement just thinking about it? Maybe, it’s something big like a new career or business direction, or an exotic travel adventure. Or perhaps, it’s something a little less intense like learning to knit or taking glass-blowing classes. But you haven’t yet. You hesitate, you tell yourself there are so many reasons you can’t or why now is not a good time, and you shove the idea to the back of the line.
Twenty-eight years ago, today’s gal pal, Leslie Kane, left her corporate career to build her own full-time business as an independent Sales Director with Mary Kay. She’s been driving a pink Cadillac or Mary Kay car pretty much ever since. When the pandemic party started, her business had to change — and so did she. That is when she felt the nudge to do something new. Without any media background but with a whole lotta heart, she launched a new podcast named Why Not Today? Today, we’re about to find out why!
In this episode we talk about:
- Starting a movement
- Changing a career direction
- Quickly moving through negative emotions
- Take action on your dreams, today!
Here’s a glance:
[4:12] Leslie teeters between a Solid Sister and a bold Amazing Adventurer and her go-to pink reveals the inspiration behind her career success.
[7:11] Leslie describes the opportunities the pandemic presented to restructure her business.
[11:28] Creating the Why Not Today? podcast was inspired, in part, to honor Leslie’s father.
[16:45] Many of Leslie’s podcast guests have transformed their lives by leaving traditional jobs to become entrepreneurs.
[22:01] How Leslie defines courage.
[25:20] When chip happens, Leslie quickly flows through the emotional cycle then pivots, prays, and lets it be.
[30:50] Why Not Today? is a movement that will grow to be as big as her father’s legacy.
[34:17] Leslie would brand a teal and pink as her Why Not Today? logo in a nail color.
[38:13] In the flip the chip segment, Mary highlights the emotional cycle Leslie talked of and how to take action to help you bounce back quickly.
