Eph. 6:10-12 In verse 10 Paul begins to conclude his letter to the Ephesians. His words sound like a pre-battle speech. It begins with a charge to be strong, not in one’s own power, but in the mighty power of the Lord. We are told to suit up with the full armor of God. The apostle will reiterate this in a few verses, saying again, "put on the full armor." The reason for this armor is also given in theses verses. Our enemy is identified, not as flesh and blood, but rulers, authorities, powers and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm. How can you be strong in "His mighty power?" When have you recognized the power of the enemy? Eph. 6:13-17 In the next verses the writer gives another challenge in two sentences, he says to stand 3 different times. Paul then lists the armor that should be worn: The belt of truth The breast plate of righteousness Feet fitted with readiness of the gospel of peace Shield of faith Helmet of salvation Sword of the spirit/word of God Eph. 6:18-20 Having put on the full armor of God, Paul says to pray in the spirit using all types of prayer and requests in all situations. He says to pray for one another and also ask that he himself be remembered in prayer. The apostle asks and repeats a request that prayer be given for him to speak the right words fearlessly. He points out again that he is an ambassador in chains. How often do you pray for fellow Christ followers? What about spiritual leaders? How important is it to have the right words? Food for thought: If our battle isn't against flesh and blood, then it happens in two places. The battle is in the spiritual realm and in our minds. This week, what thoughts do you need to fight against until you take them captive? 2 Cor. 10:5
