In this episode 13 of season 2, Ma'asehyahu Isra-Ul speaks with Dr. Gholnecsar "Gholdy" Muhammad (Professor and author of Cultivating Genius: An Equity Framework for Culturally and Historically Responsive Literacy). In this discussion, Dr. Muhammad speaks from experience. She has been an ELA teacher, history teacher, reading coach, district administrator, school board president and educational consultant. She addresses the need for culturally responsive ELA instruction blended with history, to create a framework of equity to first support and love children and then boost their levels of success in K-12 education. With a special emphasis on dismantling inequity and Eurocentric models for Black and brown children, Dr. Muhammad shares her heart for an educational world where all children can be free to have joy in learning and living.
