Manage episode 436294893 series 3309196
Join your hosts, Heather Elaine Abbott & Zoey Danielson, as they chat with Gabriella A. Moses, the director, and Cecilia Delgado, the editor, all about their new indie drama/coming of age film, Boca Chica! In this episode, Zoey & Heather dive into the world of international independent filmmaking and learn all about the process of bringing this beautiful film to life.
Filmed in the Dominican Republic and championed by a powerhouse team of female filmmakers, Boca Chica follows Desi, a 12 year old girl who spends her days dreaming on the beaches of her hometown of becoming a famous singer. When a lavish wedding reunites her family, her goal is threatened by lies, the ever-presence of child prostitution, and the looming sinister betrayal from those who should protect her most.
Boca Chica premiered at the Tribecca Film Festival in 2023 and Gabriella won the prestigious Nora Ephron award. It is currently on the festival circuit and will be at the NVision Film Festival in Palm Springs, CA in October and the New Orleans Film Festival in early November. Announcements are coming soon about renting and streaming the film, so go follow Gabriella, Cecilia, and Boca Chica on socials to stay up to date!
