Beginning the conversation for this episode, Kevin Orr – CEO and Co-Founder of Liftango – shares his thoughts on the importance of improving transport equity in underserved communities, and highlights the benefits that can be experienced by communities when residents have better access to public transport.

Then, we consider how Demand-Responsive Transport (DRT) services fit into the wider transportation ecosystem, with Kevin explaining how the introduction of these services can support improvements to public transport access and equity. Particular focus is placed on the flexible nature of DRT, compared to more traditional fixed-route services, and how this flexibility can offer users more freedom – which subsequently encourages more sustainable travel behaviours.

In the second half of this episode, we focus on Kevin’s experience over the course of the past seven years since Liftango’s launch, as he shares his unique insight into both the challenges and positive outcomes of introducing DRT and carpooling services from the perspective of public transport operators and authorities, as well as businesses that are looking to offer their employees more sustainable ways of commuting.

Passionate about building new technologies to tackle some of the biggest problems in our world, Kevin Orr is the CEO and Co-Founder of Liftango, a shared mobility startup that is helping to redesign public and corporate transport with on-demand technology. He started Liftango in 2015 with a simple goal to reduce the number of cars on the road, and has now built Liftango into one of the leading shared mobility startups in APAC.

Prior to Liftango, Orr served as a business intelligence manager for a $10 billion investment fund. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Applied Mathematics and Post-Graduate Qualification in Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing.
