ALLERGIES PART I: Nut free zone? I sure hope it does
Manage episode 433639379 series 3571216
Are you excited cause I'm excited? Why am I so excited I hear you ask? Because we get to talk about one of my favourite science topics and that is ALLERGIES!
Our seemingly failing immune response, could it really be a way to protect us against worms, toxins, fungi? Or is it an emerging response to the world of hyper hygiene and eating less dirt?
We talk about what an allergy response is and why we have them at all! To whether or not they were developed as an evolutionary advantage (the jury is still out IMO). We also discuss a few (probably too many) hypothesises, an relevant studies to support the ever expanding field of research (because we keep on getting more allergic!).
Unforch I yapped too long and there is a part two coming next week! A good 80min header that I wish we could post all at once but I don’t even think my mum is listening to all that in one go (love you Michelle xx). She is honestly probably our no 1 fan as well though.
Anyway enjoy our natterings about allergies and hopefully one day we can figure out how to de sensitize (I've tried emotionally and the outlook is grim....)
