Hitler’s generals kept telling him he was going too far as he made bold moves in 1936 and 1938 into German-affiliated regions. But no shots were fired and Hitler was proven right time after time. When he prepared to invade Poland in September of 1939, he had no real reason to think that now, after all he’d done, the Brits and the French would militarily act. He was wrong. Prime Minister Chamberlain warned him that war would be declared if Germany did not leave Poland by September 3, two days after the invasion. Hitler ignored the warning and war was indeed declared by the PM and King George VI. There was no turning back now…
