In this episode, Jess shares a very recent moment where she’s been emotionally triggered by not hearing back from someone she cares about. Even while being self-aware and realizing the lack of response probably has nothing to do with her, Jess shares her visceral response to the situation and how she will handle it. We are all human and to be affected and take something personally is natural for many of us, particularly when we care about someone else; however, we have the ability to shift our points of focus. It takes work and consistency and the most powerful go-to healthy approach to managing triggers is to meditate. Even if you don’t meditate regularly - you can do this. Taking four deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth (counting as you breathe if this helps direct your attention away from distracting thoughts) is a solid place to start. Knowing not to take things personally and practicing not doing so are two separate things; if you feel triggered, focusing on your breath for even just a few deep breaths can help you redirect your focus so you’re able to concentrate on positive thoughts while acknowledging and letting go of thoughts that lead us to less constructive places. Stay tuned for Jess King’s meditations to become available on multiple platforms soon. For the moment you can join Jess King Live on Instagram during confinement (until at least May 10, likely she will continue after this date) at @jesskingofficial at 9.30PM France (CET) Time / 3.30PM EST / 12.30 PT.
