For serious collectors of vintage cars, the calendar is filled with top-flight auctions. In a sense, however, they all flow from the series of blockbuster sales in the mid-1980s that liquidated the collection of one man: William Harrah. The circumstances around the sales--namely why they had to happen in the first place--have never been widely understood. Until now. Automotive historian and museum curator Ken Gross recently explored the sale for Hagerty Insider. He will be speaking with Insider managing editor David Zenlea on what he learned and why the Harrah's sale still matters today.
