I can picture it now, students are still and silent as they try to work on their writing piece. The teacher quiets anyone who is whispering and tells them to keep writing.
In this episode, we talk more about what it means to allow students to write authentically, which includes encouraging collaboration with peers...DURING writing time!
If you are wanting to get your students to write, you need to let them write just as any other writer does; with comfort, choice, time for thinking, collaboration and even quick breaks!
