We all have our battle scars, open wounds and hot-button issues. This is where we can get together, grab our shovels and dig down deep to get the roots of the issues that stir our passions for healing, understanding and personal growth. We are all strong roots responsible for creating beautiful branches. So, let's do it together...one issue, one cup-a-joe...one conversation at a time.

Blended families are SO tough! It takes a special heart to purposefully walk into the lives of other people's kids and love them as our own, and that fact alone should be recognized and respected. On the flip side of the coin, our new spouse's ex is apprehensive about a new person having a hand in the shaping of their children. It's a two-way street, and it takes a lot of work to co-parent the kids without the bitterness and misgivings from a breakup that has nothing to do with the kids. Everyone just check your emotions at the door, and just love those kids!!!…
Tears are not for the weak. Of course, all familiar with alligator tears, but in this episode, we're getting to the root of real tears from real hurts. We are allowed to cry, and we are, in fact, designed to do so when we get too full of hurt, disappointment, anger, and frustration. Our Creator understood the pressures we would one day face and gave us release valves to relieve those pressures in the form of salty tears. Through time, we run into people who make us feel less than human for daring to cry, but my encouragement to you is to ask you to not have so much pride that you don't allow yourself the relief created for you. "Soft" is not a bad word. It is a part of you.…
There is a difference between letting things go and complete forgiveness. Forgiveness is the same as exoneration...that is, it means to completely remove blame from the guilty. We have a bigger responsibility toward the prosperity of our relationships than we think, and the biggest part is seeing the people in our lives as they really are and loving them enough to forgive them. May you be blessed enough to truly forgive someone today!…
Welcome to the first installment in the Waging War Series . We're starting with the inner voice because many of our life decisions come from what we've been told and what we learned to believe. It is possible to blot that voice out and replace it with voices of wisdom and life, but it's not something that can be done overnight or alone. Getting there is hard, but we cannot allow ourselves to stay comfortable being guided by voices that lie to us on a daily basis. We have to grow. We have to live. In order to do so, we have to change the way we think about ourselves and the world around us.…
Whether we like it or not, we are responsible for caring about one another...even for those we don't understand. Not understanding, however, is not our excuse to not actively learn from resources that are available to help us. We need to care. We need to act. We need to grow.
We all have families that have given us varying perspectives on what moms and dads are "supposed" to do in the home. Considering the recent feminist movements, there seems to be a demand for a dismantling of traditional ways of running the home. It is definitely well worth the discussion since we live in a time when there are less traditional home demographics than the Cleavers taught us.…
We're going to keep talking about purpose. It is SO important. Now that we've given a general breakdown of what it means to pursue purpose, we're presenting a series of step to begin seeking out your purpose. We ALL have purpose, and sometimes that purpose changes with time or circumstance. Either way, we must always be willing to seek it out along with the courage to step into it.…
Life is not an easy road, especially when we travel this road for so long without knowing or understanding why we're on it. Some of our misery comes from unfortunate sequences of events, but some of them actually come from simply not knowing the answer to the question we all ask: "Why?" The best way to get anywhere near a clear answer to that question is to ask the One who made us all...uniquely, fearfully, wonderfully, and purposefully. If we know that God makes no mistakes, that He has a use for every skill, talent, gift He's given to us, and that He loves to use them for our good and His kingdom, it might make it a little easier for us to simply ask Him what we (each particular model of human) were designed to do. We are all created to do incredible things!!…
We all have people in our lives that we find it hard to relate to. That's only a problem if we stop trying to relate and connect. Many of us don't find it necessary to purposefully look for common ground until our survival depends on it, and that is very unfortunate. If we go out of our ways to find things to relate to, we will be taking a very large step into healing the strained social constructs of our land. Great places to start are through hobbies, arts, music, church or religious institutions, and any other activity that encourages people to come together for a common goal.…
Healing our land is so very important, and it all starts at home. We can complain about the state of our Country and the people in it, or we can hold ourselves accountable for our contributions to said state. It takes a growth mindset and a willingness to step out of our comfort zones to be vulnerable in a way that will benefit us all in the long run. Some call it having common courtesies, and others call it grass roots. The bottom line is that we have to get back to the basics of interacting with the people we share this Earth with. While it can seem strange at first, a simple "Hello" is a perfect way to get that started...one greeting, one act of kindness, one smile at a time.…
let's talk about how you can have and keep your faith...because the proof that it exists is listening to this podcast. Yes...that's you!! You're here. You've made it. And you're amazing!
We don't have to be broken people. There is a Potter who happens to be VERY good at taking cracked and even seemingly wrecked vessels and turning them into precious adornments!
Abortion is such a hot topic, but who is addressing the broken parenting of children who are already here and struggling to become good people? Who were they supposed to become when mom or dad decided they weren't worth the trouble? Thank God for Jesus, and thank God for grace...a grace so much greater than all our sins, hurts, guilt and regrets. It is sufficient, especially for you!…
Loving the neighbor sounds awesome! Doing it, however...well...
