Dean Parks Live on Game Changers with Vicki Abelson Dean Parks has played with everyone on every album ever recorded. Close. His discography is so long I had to take rest breaks as I was scrolling. How many did we get to? Well, we polished some of the gemstones. A 5-year-old with a steel guitar, he was playing with the big boys at 6. Clarinet followed, and saxophone, which he still plays brilliantly, before focusing on guitar, where he is lord and master of the sessions. Starting with Sonny and Cher, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder’s Innervisions (in my top 10 of all time), Songs in the Key of Life, spectacular memories there, meeting Snuffy Walden and the years of work he did with him, Jimmy Webb, Dolly Parton, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand, Linda Ronstadt, The Jackson Five, great fun there, Crosby, Stills and Nash, then Crosby and Nash, then Croz, having just rehearsed for an upcoming tour before his passing. Lovely feelings recounted. Touring with James Taylor, as his hands when he broke his, and the challenges of that. Lyle Lovett, and the wonderfulness there, Teresa James, Herbie Hancock, The Fabelmans… the man hasn’t stopped since he started, nor has he ever had to choose even a temporary alternative to his talent and his passion. With no end in sight, if you’re in LA you can catch him live at The Baked Potato. If not, just turn on your radio––songs past, present and no doubt well into the future will be featuring the skilled, soulful, spectacular virtuosity that is Dean Parks. Dean Parks Live on Game Changers with Vicki Abelson Wed, February 1, 5 pm PT, 8 pm ET Streamed Live on The Facebook Replay here: https://bit.ly/3JQFIH1
