Tonight’s program will be investigating the future of internationalism in the arts. Both ecological challenges and Covid-19 might have changed the way we think about working, presenting and programming internationally. Will the future be more locally orientated and what are the consequences of that? Does the current time - and future - call for a different approach towards cultural artistic internationalisation (within performing arts)? Should we re-think and re-shape the future of it? Should we re-establish the legitimation of working abroad or programming/presenting international work here? And should we reformulate ambitions regarding the moral and artistic challenges of internationalisation (and in slipstream globalisation)? Together with moderator Lara Staal (DAS/NTGENT) and guests Silvia Bottiroli (DAS), Rainer Hofmann (SPRING) and Jetse Batelaan (ARTEMIS), Radio Futura will be reflecting on the current international performing arts field, the changes and challenges they’ve been encountering lately. They’ll be sharing insights of their working practices to characterize and reflect on internationalism in the arts, the philosophy behind it and to share their dreams for the future.
