Small group questions:
1.) What comes to mind when you think of Jesus as a “secret shopper” in a church?
2.) Jesus left all the churches with hope even if they were corrected. Do you agree?
3.) Every church in error had the opportunity to remember, repent, and return. How do you do that?
4.) What were some promises given to “overcomers”?
5.) What do you think being an overcomer consists of?
6.) Jesus told the persecuted church in Smyrna to be faithful unto death. That is quite a challenge. How is it possible for a believer to do that?
7.) Jesus corrected the church in Thyatira for tolerating false doctrine and false prophets. What is the difference between healthy toleration and compromise?
8.) The letters talk about the synagogues of Satan. Does that mean God has rejected all Jewish people?
Romans 11:1-“ I ask, then, has God rejected his own people, the nation of Israel? Of course not! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham and a member of the tribe of Benjamin.” (see Isaiah 49:14-15)
9.) In order to understand Scripture, it is essential to see three categories of people: Gentiles, Jewish people who are not followers of Jesus, and the Church of God made up of believing Jews and Gentiles.
1 Corinthians 10:32-
“ 32 Don’t give offense to
Jews or Gentiles or the church of God. ”
10.) What would Jesus say to FCFC? What do you think he would say to you?
