4: Setting the Story Foundation with Shonda Ramsey
Manage episode 440348315 series 3595372
This special one-on-one podcast was created to encourage you to start now so you can have a completed, messy, rough draft by the end of the year. It is never too late to start achieving your goal of writing your book.
In this episode, I go over the foundation aspects you can start creating in September before we jump into plotting and planning our stories in October. I share with you my process with tools like Pinterest, music playlists, and scheduling my writing time in my calendar each day.
For the purpose of finishing our messy rough draft by the end of the year, I explain the importance of daily writing, even if it's only 15 minutes each day. By establishing this daily habit during this time, once the year comes to a close, you can easily transition your writing schedule to be sustainable for your daily life. Once I reach the end of my messy first draft, I adopt a routine that isn't as strict as daily writing, but I still schedule all of my work to fit within my work and personal schedules.
As always, these are merely suggestions, you should always create a realistic schedule to fit your lifestyle. What I have found that works for me, may or may not work for you.
Action Items:
- Create Pinterest boards and character sheets for upcoming writing project.
- Research location details for writing project.
- Schedule daily writing time before October 1.
- Sign up for November to New Year writing workshop by September 27.
