CC True Crime Minute: Kelli Bryant - Woman Given $250 Million Bond for Leaving Children Alone in 'Deplorable' Conditions for Years
Manage episode 468549569 series 3568807
A judge set a $250 million bond last Thursday for a Michigan woman who is accused of leaving her three children alone for years in a house where conditions were so offensive that police evidence technicians wore hazmat suits.
Kelli Bryant, 34, shook her head at times during her first court appearance on child abuse charges in Oakland County. Her lawyer entered a not-guilty plea on her behalf.
Her arrest came after a landlord contacted the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office for a welfare check, expressing concerns about three children still living in the home after their mother stopped paying rent in October. Bryant was living elsewhere in Pontiac.
Deputies arrived to find a boy and two girls living in a home filled with trash, human waste, and mold. Authorities have not identified the children, who are 15, 13, and 12 years old.
