曾為美國富豪榜前19強的薩克勒家族，所經營普渡製藥公司，日前在2019年9月聲請破產，
當時超過3000件訴訟指控這家公司與薩克勒家族，助長自1999年以來造成約50萬人喪命的公衛危機。
原告指控普度製藥及薩克勒家族成員積極推銷奧施康定，這款什麼病都能治的藥物，卻淡化這款處方用藥將造成用藥成癮及過量的風險。
