When you hear the word promise what comes to your mind? What about if promise and deliverance are mentioned together? Most think of the prosperity gospel when they hear these words, the unfulfilled promises after a long night's prayer of deliverance. To some, these words bring so much frustration as they provoke unfulfilled promises made by politicians. But the story of Israel gives a better perspective to understanding promise and deliverance. God promised and delivered Israel not from human oppression but from sin. In Exodus 6:1-9 we get a great picture of how God fulfils his promises to his people and delivers them, but he later fully delivers them from their greatest enemy which is sin through the lord Jesus Christ.
