It's Nautical Week here on Catchupcast! Join us as we discuss the ocean-centric books we've been reading (In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex & The Devil and the Dark Water), the horrors of being stranded at sea, and Assassins Creed: Adventures in Whaling! We celebrate the arrival of spring, play a lightning round of Meme Review, and confront a bird. Plus, Isaac finally visits a children's museum, we learn some Frank Lloyd Wright facts, and we consider the logistics of chaperoning a middle school dance. Finally, listen as we get increasingly angry with each other while attempting to define wheels and doors! You guys like sports, right? Get ready for some VERY dated sports talk as Isaac and Ethan chat about the Winter Olympics! This episode of Catchupcast has it all! Speedy audio! Bean oil! Obtaining ducks! Meme research! We debate sword-wielding orangutans and the chicken waiting in your car, as well as haircut preferences. We ponder Zuck's Future, structuring our lives, the beauty of Lego games, and a mind-blowing bus movie. Oh, and Ethan gets very, very angry about The Book of Boba Fett (or is it Boomer Fett?). Hello there! It has been far too long since we last released an episode, but hopefully our editor has finally gotten their act together and is gonna start pumping episodes out (No promises though)! This episode of Catchupcast sees Ethan and Isaac getting relaxed and discussing The Mandalorian, just in time for Star Wars’s latest foray into live-action television: Obi-Wan Kenobi! Full spoilers ahead, be warned. In fact, it's a pretty deep dive into the Star Wars universe in general! Plus, we talk about Second Monday, the Sticky Monster, icy treks, Broomball, and the relatability of stories. May the Force Be With You! Happy 2022! Oh wait, it's March? Whoops! In the latest episode of Catchupcast, Isaac and Ethan face the Wisconsin Snowbug, figure out how to wear a scarf, and discuss quadrilogies and sextologies, handy wrecking balls, Taylor Swift (of course!), chickens vs. elephants, tinder tips, love languages, and ponder mortality! We are still catching up on our backlog, once again thank you for your patience, we will continue putting out new episodes as soon as our good-for-nothing editor can get them finished! In this timely installment of Catchupcast, Ethan and Isaac lament living in the dark alternate Back to the Future Part II timeline before discussing sleeping surfaces, going home, and funny kids. They do some small talk role-play, fall into a catharsis hole, evaluate the genuineness of podcasts, try to find an untraceable form of communication, compare vaccine reactions, and take a cold shower! We are slowly working our way through the backlog of episodes we've recorded, thank you for being so patient! Wow, we haven't published an episode since last year! Sorry for the delay, life has been CRAZY! Hopefully you'll forgive us! In this very ill-timed holiday episode, Isaac and Ethan discuss tracking Santa Claus, Christmas shopping, holiday blues, CIA New Years, Christmas anthems, children's museums, a Cool Teen Library for Teens, how a boy and his robot were the original remote teachers, Netflix's biggest show ever (Squid Game spoilers end at 1:07:11), and plan our very own Squid Game! We recorded this episode early in November, and then, between life and the holidays, didn't have time to edit/release it until now. Sorry about that! In this episode (which is a milestone for us), we talk about libraries, dangerous tea, an arbitrary and difficult canoe trip, an impromptu adventure in closure, the One Pot Life, defining a classic, disturbing the Geese Peace, one final bike ride, when Christmas comes too early, cut Catchupcast content, a real-life Hunger Games, and, finally, NaNoWriMo and the struggle to write. In the latest episode of Catchupcast, Isaac encounters a forest set ablaze and Ethan finds himself in smokey peril, which makes this, statistically, our most lit episode to date! Also, we ponder inspirational garbage, the many cults of Western New York, the infinity of human literature, a tear-inducing surprise on Ethan's birthday, lying about crying, an odd dealbreaker, author signatures, writing a sequel, and reflect a bit on the podcast. Plus much more! Welcome to episode 52 of Catchupcast! If we were releasing weekly, this would mark a year since we started the show! But, since podcasting is hard and we are busy, it's actually been three and a half years! Whoops! In this episode, Isaac and Ethan talk about a pizza hybrid, Isaac's adventure race, Ethan's peanut butter naïvete, riding bicycles, grad school, running with Elton John, their fear of wasting their time, and watching new generations grow up. Also, we revisit Beau Miles with a discussion on his film "Junk Films", which leads us to ponder artistic transformation and filmmaking styles. Finally, Ethan puts on his director hat (which has an ear of corn on it, as it happens) and gives some notes on sword fights. “Junk Films” by Beau Miles: https://youtu.be/xmj0sK0dCWU Buy Ethan’s book! https://amzn.to/2SSSCf2 Check out our Twitter account (@KetchupCast) or send us an email at nocondiments@gmail.com! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ethan-mcatee/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ethan-mcatee/support…
After our big 50th anniversary episode, we're feeling kinda sleepy, so prepare yourselves for some weird energy this episode! In this installment of Catchupcast, Ethan and Isaac discuss their former classmate, Lil Jeff; attachment styles, silence, alcohol, accent stories, vaccines, and immigrating to New Zealand. Light up that Hollywood sign, because there's a lot of movie talk this week: we ponder box office numbers, movies that couldn't be made today, and give a detailed description of Mission: Impossible II's best moments! Finally, Isaac debuts a new bit and Ethan becomes a ticking coffee time bomb! It's our Fiftieth Anniversary celebration!! After all these years, we are so so proud to bring you this special episode, featuring our THIRD-EVER GUEST, our old friend Keenan! After first revisiting some questions from a very long time ago, we hear all about Keenan's script doctoring business and his dog, Echo! We remember sloppy reenactments and long-gone restaurants, and reminisce about Scouting shenanigans and our teenage years filled with filmmaking! We discuss Wisconsin living, an uncomfortably nosy party dude, the perfect charcuterie condiment, complicated gear, obnoxious people in our fields, our green thumbs (or lack thereof), burial traditions on Arrakis, play a round of Meme Review Review, and, perhaps most importantly, talk about Batman. Mostly, we just really enjoy being three very old friends catching up for the first time in a very long time. Thank you, listeners, for sticking with us for all these years! We really love making this show, and it's such a joy to finally reach this milestone! Sorry for the long hiatus between this and Episode 49, though, things were a bit hectic in making this episode happen. To make up for that, Episode 51 will go up one week from today! Ethan and Isaac dig even deeper into the nostalgia well in this latest episode of Catchupcast, this time remembering musicals, attempts at wooing, prom, stolen ray guns, and a double date with a math teacher. And if that wasn't enough, they also find time to talk about the sameness of adult life, escaping the familiar, a violent baptism, first date tips, laundromat brochures, the Tokyo 2020(+1) Olympics, and YouTuber Beau Miles. We reveal whether we're dog or cat people, Ethan has a suspiciously good day, and Isaac gets in over his head on an adventure!
